Sky Garden has recently been involved in the construction of a housing development project in Salford, Manchester. It is part of a wider Salford Central regeneration scheme including apartments, town houses and commercial buildings.
Sky Garden were excited to be part of this ambitious project. We are building a strong reputation for hard landscaping works alongside our fantastic expertise in green roof systems.
We were involved in many aspects of the works at Plot E3.
The fencing for the project was carefully designed, procured and installed by the Sky Garden team. Using FFC renewable wood, the product was manufactured, tanalised and installed on site by our own professional joiners.
The brickwork was of the highest quality, formed using clay locally sourced from the nearby Salford Quays. Along with the paving, the bricks were laid on a build-up of slip layers, 6mm fleece, 20mm drainage board with an infill of grit, and a 50mm bedding layer. The final result is a smart, level surface throughout the whole site.
Although the planters were installed by others, Sky Garden were responsible for what they were filled with. Specifically chosen plants from highly regarded nurseries were planted in high quality top soil. The soil was then covered with a layer of forest bark. As well as giving the planters an attractive finish, the bark prevents moisture loss, as well as inhibiting weed growth.
We are very proud of our work at Salford. Keep an eye out for our upcoming podium work at the same Salford regeneration scheme in the coming months.
