Sky Garden were delighted to win the Green Roof of the Year award at this year’s UK Roofing Awards in London, having been nominated for the works at The Macallan Distillery.
The awards evening, hosted by the NFRC, took place at the Park Plaza in London to celebrate the best workmanship and health and safety the roofing industry had to offer this year.
The 800 guests and nominees enjoyed a fantastic event, with the eventual winners celebrating well into the night.
The Green Roofing category was extremely competitive this year, showcasing the progression this innovative section of the industry is enjoying in recent times. Any of the projects were worthy winners, but Sky Garden were judged to be the pick of the bunch.
The Macallan stands for quality, craftsmanship and luxury. The eye-catching roof for their distillery certainly instils these brand qualities. Sky Garden were selected by the landscape architects to assist with the design in 2014 and were delighted to see this prestigious project all the way through to its impressive fulfilment. The green roof is the essence of this project. By some margin this is the largest known wildflower roof in Europe and, given the roof design, it is certainly one of the most innovative and challenging green roofs ever installed.
